Joy Manne is an author who has now turned her hand to children’s stories. With the help of illustrator Trudi Drewett. They approached us to bring text and image together for this their first book, “No, I won’t Go To Bed Tonight”.
We worked with Trudi to create typography that followed the illustrations, and was part of the narrative.
This was a great project, and we hope to be working on the next one soon! We love Trudi’s fun illustrations, particularly like the rogue numbers on the back!
We also designed and helped to self-publish another book for Joy with illustrator Trudi Drewett. This book, Don’t Blame the Dog, was a chapter book so needed more of a grid.
We needed to consider that the book should be easy to read and so choose a large and friendly font. We also prepared Trudi’s beautiful illustrations for print using them to break up the text.
Where colour corrected and cropped the illustrations helping to decide which would work best where.
It was a lovely experience working as a creative team!
