Aged French Decadence Brought Bang Up To Date
1st November 2016
Wow, this is a disorientating and rather wonderful space. The Hôtel Plaza Athènèe has Bond glamour in spades, designer Patrick Jouin has disorientated and intrigued with his insertion of organic forms in surprising hues and in surprising places.
The decadent French hotel has chosen a bold but I think quite brilliant route by coupling its historical fabric with uncompromising contemporary style. From the fluid forms incased in the resin bar, to the undulating textiles in lapis blue that rush across the ceiling, or the chandelier that appears to have engulfed the whole ceiling. A feast for the eyes, and that is before you sample the Michelin-star food! See more at knstrct.
