Logo Design for Wild & Free Cornish Campers

Creating a relaxed, outdoorsy identity

Wild & Free Cornish Campers is centred around Pip, a classic VW campervan available for holidays and road trips around Cornwall. From the start, the identity needed to feel personal, playful and connected with the freedom of being outdoors.

Emma explored a slightly retro direction, taking inspiration from camping graphics and the great outdoors. The circular logo was designed to have something of the feel of an embroidered camping badge, giving it a familiar, informal quality without becoming too nostalgic.

Illustration, colour and movement

The campervan illustration developed quickly. An early hand-drawn version was explored before we settled on a cleaner vector illustration with a more dynamic perspective. The colours were inspired partly by Pip herself, with brighter sunny and forest-like shades added to give the identity warmth and energy.

The Wild & Free lettering was also drawn by hand. Its loose, fluid style was intended to feel fun, personal and slightly in motion, which suited both the name and the sense of adventure behind the business.

The identity came together in just two rounds of proofs. Its individual elements, including the lettering, campervan, trees and compass, were then developed into a flexible visual language that could be carried through the website, vehicle graphics, stationery, gift vouchers and other printed material.
