The Harbour Light

Branding, illustration and print for a Boscastle café

When our long-standing clients at Proper Vintage opened The Harbour Light in Boscastle, they asked us to create an identity for the new café that would feel distinctive, welcoming and closely connected to its harbour-side setting.

We developed a colourful circular logo inspired by the shapes and colours of Boscastle harbour, creating both full-colour and linear versions so the identity could work across a wide range of applications. A bespoke illustration of the café building became another flexible part of the brand, bringing some of the character of the location into the design.

The identity was then carried through to the practical details of the business, including hand-painted exterior signage, pavement signs, menus and clothing. Keeping these elements visually connected gives The Harbour Light a recognisable character wherever customers encounter it, from the first sign outside to the menu on the table.

It is a good example of how we can develop a brand beyond the initial logo, creating the illustration, print and signage needed to make an identity work consistently in the real world.
