Pencarrow House and Gardens
Visitor Leaflet Design & Rack Display Strategy
For the 2026 season, we refreshed the visitor leaflet for Pencarrow House and Gardens, a historic Cornish estate open to the public throughout the year. The primary objective was to increase “pick-up” rates within the competitive environment of tourist information centres and other locations.
Designing for Distribution
When producing print marketing for distribution firms, the physical context of the leaflet is as important as the graphic design. A standard DL leaflet sits in a tiered rack where often only the top 40mm is visible.
We designed the Pencarrow leaflet with a strict hierarchy. The brand name, the “Free Garden Entry for Kids” offer, and the primary image are all positioned within that critical top third. This ensures the key selling points are visible even when the leaflet is behind others in a rack.
The Visitor Experience
Once picked up, the leaflet needs to function as a practical guide. The interior features a map of the 50-acre gardens, clearly marking accessible routes and points of interest. The typography is set in classic serif fonts to reflect the Georgian heritage, paired with a clean layout that makes the opening times and prices easy to locate.
We regularly design leaflets that are intended for professional distribution networks. That means thinking beyond how a leaflet looks on screen, and designing for how it will actually be seen, picked up and used in the real world.
If you’re planning to work with a leaflet distribution company and want the design handled with that context in mind, we’re always happy to talk through the brief.
