Mesmear Luxury Cottages in Polzeath asked us to create a business card that reflected both the character of their holiday accommodation and their location on the North Cornwall coast.

Emma hand illustrated a simple map showing Polzeath alongside Padstow, Rock and Port Isaac. Rather than treating the location as just another line of information, we made it the main feature of the design, giving the card an immediate sense of place.

The reverse kept the practical details clear and uncluttered, while the illustrated front gave Mesmear something much more distinctive than a conventional business card.

A little shimmer from the sea

For the finishing touch, we picked out the Mesmear name and location marker in blue foil. As the card moves, the foil catches the light and changes in tone, giving it a shimmer that felt particularly appropriate for a business by the sea.

It is a small piece of print, but a good example of how bespoke illustration, thoughtful graphic design and the right print finish can work together to make something memorable.

The Mesmear project also led to another commission when Avon Manor Guest House found the work in our online portfolio and asked us to create something along similar lines for their own business. That project developed the idea further, with another illustrated map and a shimmering silver foil finish.
