Illustrated business card design with silver foil

Avon Manor Guest House in Lee-on-the-Solent found our Mesmear Luxury Cottages business card online and asked us to create something along similar lines for their own seafront accommodation.

The idea they liked was using an illustrated map to make the location part of the design. We kept that principle, but developed a new map around Avon Manor’s own setting, adding simple nautical details to give the artwork a clear sense of the coast.

Muted greens and blues complemented the existing logo, while welcoming typefaces kept the card relaxed and approachable. The practical information remained clear, with the illustration giving the piece its own character.

Silver foil for the finishing touch

To draw attention to Avon Manor’s position by the sea, we picked out its location on the map in silver foil. The finish catches the light as the card moves, adding a subtle shimmer without overwhelming the illustration.

It was a lovely example of an earlier project leading directly to a new commission – and of how the same basic idea can be adapted rather than simply repeated. The result is a small piece of print with a strong sense of place, combining bespoke illustration, graphic design and specialist print finishing.
