Breaking the Mould with 3D Printing

28th August 2018

I am always learning something new about 3d printing, it really seems limitless. These benches are the product of a collaboration with Berlin based Studio 7.5 and Parisian 3D printers XtreeE. The 3D printing robot can print clay and concrete with real precision and in this case, creating woven concrete that’s wonderfully tactile.

The beauty of this process means complex designs that would be too challenging to produce normally with moulds now become possible. A sometimes cold and cumbersome material becomes more approachable, warm even. A hand-rendered feel like traditional textiles, all thanks to a robot!
