Bouquets of Spoons

8th May 2018

British artist Ann Carrington, among other things, creates botanical still life sculptures with spoons. Inspired by the great Dutch painters of the 16th and 17th century she uses objects with previous lives. Silver plated spoons, pewter tankards, silver vases and plates – just what the Dutch artists would have used in their still life paintings, but she brings them up to date.

The time and effort and skill these artworks would have taken is remarkable. Beautifully executed, they encourage you to look closer and try and work out what bloom is made from what!
