Beautiful Illustrations by Dahlov Ipcar

Here is a selection of the captivating work by Dahlov Ipcar who passed away at the beginning of February 2017, aged 99. Her style was ‘non-intellectual cubist’, and she never stopped painting even after her eyesight faded.

She had her first solo exhibition at the age of 22 in 1939, at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In 1945, she illustrated her first children’s book, The Little Fisherman, written by Margaret Wise Brown. She went on to write and illustrate more than 30 children’s books of her own.
