A Week at the Knees

22nd May 2025

What fun! A typical Georgian facade appears to have slithered into a local London park, but it’s actually a sculpture from artist Alex Chinneck. Installed for the Clerkenwell Design Week 2025 this impressive and rather effortless looking piece of public art has been on view just from the 20th of May until today, the 22nd.

Floppy house art installation

7,000 bricks were used in all, over a recycled steal frame (taken from the now demolished American Embassy in London). This allowed the carbon footprint to be much reduced with salvaged windows too.

Week at the Knees public art

I love how the weary facade creates an underpass in the park , so perfectly fitting its urban surrounds as well as disrupting them.

Alex Chinneck

Alex is no stranger to this kind of installation, with pealing buildings, twisted canal boats and knotted post boxes all to his name. Wonderful stuff.
