A practical website for a maritime festival
Sea Salts & Sail Festival is a biennial maritime event set in the historic Cornish port of Mousehole. The committee needed a new website that was easy to navigate, worked smoothly on mobile devices and captured the traditional character of the festival.
We took visual inspiration from the distinctive red sails, pairing warm maritime colours with a muted palette of slate greys and ocean blues. Behind the design, the website needed to work for several different audiences, giving visitors, sailors and stallholders clear routes to event information, booking forms and festival documents.
Making complex event information easy to use
A custom boat directory showcases the historic vessels attending the festival, allowing visitors to explore individual boats while giving the committee a practical way to keep the information up to date.
The website also supports the festival’s fundraising through digital programme access. Visitors can buy access online and read the official programme through an interactive flipbook, whether they are planning their visit at home or checking details on their phone at the harbour.
Together, the responsive design, booking routes, boat directory and digital programme turn the website into a working part of the event rather than simply a place to advertise it.
